Certified Child Life Specialist III, Zone Clinical Coordinator
Cheryl Strauss, CCLS, is a certified child life specialist III at The Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. She has been working in the field of child life for over 20 years in various children’s hospitals throughout the country. After joining the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department at Mount Sinai in 1999, she worked clinically on the pediatric inpatient units before becoming the Clinical Coordinator of The Zone in 2006.
Cheryl supervises the staff in The Zone, including child life specialists and assistants, an art therapist, a family resource librarian, and the comprehensive production team in KidZone TV, the closed circuit television channel for pediatric patients and families. She oversees programming for patients and families in The Zone including special events and visitors such as celebrities, community groups, and more.
Cheryl leads various educational seminars within the hospital to pediatric medical students, residents, and others on child life related topics. She is a presenter at the national training intensive on pediatric television programming sponsored annually at the Mount Sinai KidZone TV studio.
