SURGE: The Zone's Teen Art & Literary Magazine

The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department has entered an exciting partnership with Writopia Lab, providing bedside writing for pediatric patients and their families 12 hours a week. “Writing gives patients a way to cope with their illness and pain, and, for a moment, live deep inside their imaginations. I’ve seen hospital rooms transform into magical forests, serene beaches, and hilarious family dinners. It’s beautiful,” says Molly Haas-Hooven, the Writopia Creative Writing Coordinator at the hospital.

SURGE: The Zone's Teen Art & Literary Magazine is a publication produced by the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department and Writopia where teenagers in the Kravis Children's Hospital at Mount Sinai and those in our communities come together by having their original creative writing and artwork published. If you are a teenager and would like to submit your work, please email Molly at Molly.Haas-Hooven@mountsinai.org .
